I really feel very proud and privileged to bring here the Annual report for 2019-20 of our school. Before saying anything let me extend my hearty thanks to all those who worked with me to make this academic year a grand success. As we know the Annual Report is a summary of the happenings, result and plans for the year past I am required to certify that the information in this report is the result of a vigorous school self-evaluation process and is balanced and genuine account of the school's achievements and areas for developments. The report gives an account of the progress made by the school in providing high quality education for students as set in the Annual pedagogical plan of Sirajul Huda English Medium School's Academic Council.
Sirajul Huda English Medium School Meppayur is one among the seven schools under Sirajul Huda Educational complex, Kuttiadi. It is a co- educational secondary school established in the year 2003. We aim at imparting general education of high standard along with value education. We set standards and goals for ourselves and strive to achieve them be it in the area of academic, sports, discipline, leadership and more it is a warm and inviting school community that offers a range of services which build a bond with the parent community. The students recognize that they be a part of warm and nurturing community which supports them to pursue the highest aims and great success. The school provides equal opportunity to everybody and holds prize distribution ceremony to honour those of its students who have made the school proud with their brilliant efforts not only in the academic field but also in the co- curricular areas.
Academic, cultural, sporting and social endeavours in an environment conducive to learning, teaching and friendship. Poor, destitute and orphan children are well cared for in this school. Hundreds of orphan students are being taught here free of cost. At present we have student strength of 343. CBSE syllabus is followed.
The annual report showcases the achievements and glories of our school, undoubtedly, but also thinks deeply about our short comings. We have always been committed to create an environment in the school which helps the young minds to blossom and provide a plat- form for individual thinking and holistic development of the child's personality
The school is a member of IAME, a body which undertakes various activities with a view to enhance the quality of education. It is also a member of Vatakara Sahodaya, Malabar Sahodaya and Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya School complexes. CBSE instruction from time to time are strictly adhered to in respect of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
I wish to begin with our performance on the academic front. Achieving academic excellence is at the heart of our endeavour as education. Academic achievements reflect a demonstrated ability to perform to the best of one's ability by developing one's intellectual potential and skills with diligence and dour. To achieve the academic excellence we have several plans. We have a well-organized examination Board. (Common for all schools under Sirajul Huda Education Complex) which has been conducting all evaluation in classes from I to IX for many years. Our management, together with principals and teachers, is making innovative practices in all aspects of education including pedagogy and evaluation and is also providing support service for teachers and students.
I take great pleasure to state that we did our best to achieve what had been planned for the academic 2019-20 and we are very proud of our teachers and students who strive hard to outdo expectations. Schools re-opened Monday 3rd June 2019 and the school activities for the year 2019 -20 were opened by Resp. Perode Abdul Rahman Saquafi, General Secretary of Sirajul Huda Educational Complex on 10th June 2019. This has been an eventful year as many important activities and developments occurred in the school. Our students of X std. 2018-19 passed CBSE Board Exam with flying colours. The pass was 100% with above 90% marks to all. They were honoured by Hon'ble general secretary on the school award day.
Class PTA's were held on different dates in June 2019 and finally school PTA executive committee was constituted of from class PTA members in July. Mr.Aboobacker Tholeri was elected unanimously as PTA president and Mr. Suhair, Riyas Palachuvad were elected Vice President and treasurer respectively. PTA really helped us a lot by addressing issues that are important to parents, public and school administration. PTA co-ordinated all the school activities for the academic year 2019-2020.
As a new endeavour we took a giant leap this year by introducing Foundation Exam Programme in our schools. This is a dedicated and dynamic Entrance and Civil Service coaching programme with an aim to impart first class education to students who wish in future, to prepare for various competitive examinations. We are giving entrance coaching for 6th, 7th, 8th 9th and 10th class students with a conviction that those who wish to focus entrance exams need preparation from an early age. The earlier a student prepares, the better will be the performance. And it will be extended up to senior secondary level in future. We literally started to make a difference in the way students rack their brains and approach problems. There will be 7 school based tests and one interschool level mega test also in an academic year.
Arts and cultural programmes enhance pupils intellectual personal and social development. It always helps the children to develop activities to think and understand the world and its culture. Moreover arts in education is an expanding field of educational research and practice. Keeping in view this fact, Sirajul Huda gives opportunity to each child to develop his/her artistic skill by conducting school Arts fest and Inter school Arts Fest. This years interschool fest was conducted at Darul Huda English Medium School Nadapuram and our students performance in the fest was marvellous.
To ensure that students are equipped to face any challenge several enrichment programmes were envisaged. The students along with their teachers have undertaken a number of activities like reading day on June 19, Yoga Day June 21, International Day against drug abuse June 26, world population day July 11, Hiroshima and Nagasaki day, national sports day, Smart energy programme, Green olympiad, Anticorruption poster making, CBSE expression series, Swachh Bharat Programme, Ecoclub conservation of water, Fit India, Cleanliness drive, Vidyarthi Vignam, Paryatan Parv, Rashriya Ekta Divas, Heritage Quiz Vigilance awareness programme, National Education Day, programme in connection with national integration and field trips etc. This year we conducted science and Mathematics exhibition where all who visited were thrilled and wonder stuck and appreciated much the efforts and creativity of our students and staff. All these will definitely be a great help to our students to equip themselves for the global scenario.
Professional on going learning of the staff is a key for quality teaching learning, as this is ensuring the development of skills, knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and current trends in teaching and learning process. We are very proud to announce that our teachers have been supported by many orientation and enrichment programmes organized by our management, several reputed external agencies, Sahodaya and CBSE Centre of Excellence. The principal also got opportunity to refresh himself by attending various programmes. Prominent among these were - CBSE COE's Experiential learning, British council overview programme, CBSE Sahodaya’s state level conference at Kochi etc.
Sports competitions inculcate the spirit of positive challenges of sportsmanship among the students and prepare them for the life ahead. Sports, Games and Physical fitness have a very important role in our curriculum. For our students we conduct two levels of competitions. 1) School level 2) Interschool level. Moreover our students are getting opportunity to take part in Sahodaya level also.
Our students are part of different clubs such as Science club, Social Science club, Natural club, Health and wellness club and Language club. Regular club activities were held, in which students participate and display their caliber. Going beyond the classroom walls and textbooks, comprehending the wonders that are beyond the syllabus and gain first-hand knowledge and experience and augment academic learning, various tours and trips were also organized on to various destinations.
Least to say, this year as for as we are concerned was very traumatic because we lost our honorable chairman Mr. Makool Muhammed Haji and secretary of office affairs Mr. Shereef Saqufi who were drowned to death in the flood of this year. Really it affected all of us very badly. We were stunned by the incidents. Though it was a great loss, we understand as irresistible fate from God. May God Almighty give both of them the eternal peace.
As we really understand that Environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment, We are taking our own effort in the field of environment education.
Before concluding this report, I thankfully acknowledge the priceless contribution of PTA in making the academic year a grand success. A large number of PTA’s were held this year to discuss academic and non-academic matters. I bow in reverence to God Almighty for the blessing he showered open this institution. May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to our students, staff, management, PTA and all our well-wishers for their whole hearted co-operation in making this academic year a great success?
